Tolle is one of those people for whom the lid came off suddenly and unequivocally.
This might not be a rare event, but it’s singular and unprecedented.
That’s why it’s called the pathless path.
Anyway, his seeing changed.
He “saw” the world so differently, he sat on park benches for years, absorbed in bliss.
No job, no friends, no identity.
He discovered something compared to which all this is a grain of sand.
So, why can’t Tolle teach us?
No one can.
When the legendary angels come, they crash into you like a million suns.
You sit down in astonishment and the mind stops.
When people ask you your secret, what can you say?
Sit down and keep quiet.
We all learn at the school of “Monkey See, Monkey Do.”
It’s the only school in town.
There’s a joke in Non-Duality circles:
A few people, you see, attained Self-Realization while getting on buses.
So the joke is, “The Self is always here and now, but sometimes you have to get on a lot of buses.”
All the following statements are true:
It’s present even now so there’s no attaining it.
It will come with practice.
It will come with thunder.
Only the few and the proud attain it.
The few and the proud are further from it than anyone else!
Tolle is an impressive teacher, but what he’s trying to convey is like water and his words are a sieve.
His presence is the thing because he has the alchemical transformation.
Compost to flowers, dross to gold.
Once you have the key to the treasure, you’re rich forever.
Follow those who know the way, and watch how they get in.
Or, find your own way.
Knowing it’s there is the important thing.
