Specificity of Radiologic Findings as Indicators of AbuseAdapted from Kleinman PKK (ed): Diagnostic imaging of child abuse, ed 2, Mosby, Chicago, 1998, p 9.
High Specificity

  3. Scapular fractures
  4. Sternal fractures
Moderate Specificity
  1. Multiple fractures, especially bilateral
  2. Fractures of different ages
  3. Epiphyseal separations
  4. Vertebral body fractures and subluxations
  5. Digital fractures
  6. Complex skull fractures
Common, but Low Specificity

  2. Clavicle fractures
  3. Long bone fractures
