The 3 Biggest Barriers To Weight Loss (M)

One of the best ways of fighting cravings is to work out ways to cope with barriers in advance.
The three main times when people cheat on their diet are in response to late night cravings, the presence of friends and the temptations of alcohol, a study finds.
People cheat on their diet around 50 percent of the time that they are tempted, researchers found.
Dieters are most vulnerable at night — many know to their cost that late-night snacking is the great enemy of weight loss.
Alcohol is also a considerable temptation, proving more attractive even than sugary snacks or overindulgence in food generally.
Finally, the presence of other people also tended to derail people’s best dieting intentions.
For example, it is difficult to follow a strict diet when other people around you are eating.
The study clearly shows the power of the situation over dieting — it is about more than just willpower and self-control.
For the study, 80 people were prompted to record what they were doing throughout the day with their mobile phones.
