Terence McKenna said a lot of this in the 80s and 90s too. He studied shamanism, ethnobotany, and called the universe a novelty producing engine that favors complexity. He believed the cosmos is alive with intelligence and we have become too egotistical as a species. Alfred North Whitehead was highly influential on his thinking.
