NOAH RULE

////////////////The Noah rule: Predicting rain doesn't count; building arks does."
– Warren Buffett

/////////////////You should never be surprised when someone treats you with
respect, you should expect it."

-- Sarah Dessen

//////////////////In 1181, a
supernova was first observed by Japanese and Chinese
astronomers. The astronomers recorded the supernova, now known
as SN 1181, in eight separate texts. One of only eight
supernovae in the Milky Way observable with the naked eye in
recorded history, it appeared in the constellation Cassiopeia
and was visible in the night sky for about 185 days.

////////////////////////////////Don't rely on someone else for your happiness and self-worth.
Only you can be responsible for that. If you can't love and
respect yourself -- no one else will be able to make that
happen. Accept who you are -- completely; the good and the bad
-- and make changes as you see fit, not because you think
someone else wants you to be different."

-- Stacey Charter

////////////////////////////////POWER OF NEGATIVE THINKING AND ANTICIPATORY GRIEF="The Stoics recommended 'the premeditation of evils,' or deliberately visualizing the worst-case scenario. ... Buddhist meditation, too, is arguably all about learning to resist the urge to think positively—to let emotions and sensations arise and pass, regardless of their content." Rather than purposely think negatively, we may be wise to reevaluate what we consider as negative emotions in the first place.

///////////////////////////YES FREE WILL=brain assembles a series of neurons that, once they cross a threshold, constitute a decision to act. In the experiment, individuals who reacted most quickly to the experimenters' prompt to move also had the greatest neuron buildup. Aaron Schurger of the National Institute of Health and Medical Research in Saclay, France, said of the results: "...what looks like a pre-conscious decision process may not in fact reflect a decision at all. It only looks that way because of the nature of spontaneous brain activity."

/////////////////////////The link between studying abroad and enhanced creativity was first made in a 2009 paper by William Maddux and Adam Galinsky, who found students who spent time overseas were more likely to come up with innovative insights."

//////////////////......."Our findings indicate that studying abroad supports cognitive processes involved in developing innovative solutions
