🕉️ Śrīmad Bhāgavatam – Canto 1: Creation

Overview:
The First Canto introduces the purpose of the Bhāgavatam, the fall of the Kuru dynasty, the departure of Lord Krishna, and the emergence of King Parīkṣit. It sets the philosophical and historical context for the rest of the text.

Kṛṣṇa tells Arjuna to act justly, even though Aśvatthāmā is a Brahmin’s son.

In 2012, 52- year- old Tasleem Rafiq suddenly collapsed in her home in Reading, United Kingdom. Her family was with her at the time and im mediately called emergency services. An ambulance was dispatched, and on arrival paramedics began emergency resuscitation. Rafiq had suffered a heart attack and was transported to Royal Berkshire Hospital where re suscitation efforts continued. After 45 minutes without success, she was pronounced dead. Eleven hours later, Tasleem Rafiq woke up.1 At the time, doctors were sure that her ordeal would result in irrevocable brain injury. Nevertheless, Rafiq made what is often described as a “miraculous re covery” and has since returned to her normal life. Rafiq’s story is rare but not unique. Every few years, the media will report another case of mirac ulous recovery. In 2020, Timesha Beauchamp, of Michigan, made it all the way to the funeral home before she was found, still breathing, in a body bag.2 Unfortunately, her story doesn’t have a happy ending. Beauchamp eventually died due to the lack of care she received.
