As human numbers have increased and we have migrated far and wide, we have brought death, disease and mass extinction of other species. Human greed and selfishness has brought us to the brink of our own extinction too. I don't believe there was ever a 'golden age' of perfect harmony, there were just fewer of us to cause mass destruction. Now we are depending on science to try and get us out of this mess we created. It can certainly help, but it may already be too late and we may have effectively begun a mass cull of our own species. Which should cheer up all the other animals no end..
