L-MAL

  • Laryngomalacia is the most common cause of neonatal stridor.
  • Less than 10% of patients with laryngomalacia require surgical intervention—reassure if thriving and the history fits the typical pattern.
  • Ear, nose and throat (ENT) referral should be considered where the history and examination findings of laryngomalacia are atypical or where there is evidence of poor weight gain.
