Our conscious mind is simply a tip of the iceberg and one has to go deep persistently to unlock the true potential. Few activities that can help to go deep within :

1.Meditation: Practicing meditation can take a person deep into subconscious and can reach a state of dreaming. Scientifically, it's proven now that brain patterns become slower and more stable as the chattering mind becomes near silent.

Researchers have identified several different types of brain waves and categorised as below:

-Delta waves (below 4 hz) occur during sleep

-Theta waves (4-7 hz) are associated with deep relaxation and visualization

-Alpha waves (8-13 hz) occur during calmness

-Beta waves (13-38 hz) occur when we are actively thinking and alert

It's understood that our brain is normally functioning in the ‘beta’ pattern. During meditation, our brain patterns stabilise and move from beta first to alpha and then to theta. During deep stages of meditation, brain is observed to be projecting delta patterns. This is to understand that over a period of time, one will notice a change in the way one thinks and be able to calm the mind slow enough to tap into the subconscious naturally. Initial stages of meditation may seem to be painful by having thoughts which are popping out of nowhere. It is important to let them flow and as one continues practice, one will become more skilled in being an ‘observer’ with the conscious mind. This is the point where one can reap the benefits of accessing subconscious mind and one can get great ideas and solutions to their current problems they are facing.

2. Get creative: Our subconscious does not use words but uses our creativity to express itself. Be it art, music or simple gardening, it's advised to engage in creative pursuits to know what our subconscious might be telling us

3. Trust your gut: Generally the first thing which one hears from within is considered to be our subconscious talking to us, but it's just that we are most of the time in a rush. Next time if we take any decisions, it's good to sit back and listen carefully the voices from within. It will guide and take us where we have to go. Trust them
