MONSOON RHAPSODY R/V

I found this novel have a very  easy-going style and narrative.  It  starts with the protagonist Aparna,as a mixed race (British Indian )girl  in millennial Dickensian style . She is  trying to find her identity against the backdrop of a fast changing world including her parental divorce. Soon,  she realises that she has two roots in this world one from each parent. She is apprehensive of her Indian heritage and goes on a journey ofedemption to Calcutta and India. On the way she nd on the moral side of her business she goes through multiple difficulties in  a country where efficency is still punctuated by a massive bureacracy and corruption. Aparna (one without leaves)  realises that she has roots. gently follow her emotional low journey relationship with her boyfriend A relationship in the backdrop of her parental divorce and her  . Each character has been treated maturely by the author in her long punctuated sentence and style.

The plot is Intensely moving . Men come out to support Aparna than women, including in far flung places.
There is an inspirational element in her relationship with the city of Calcutta . This will chime with readers who have a nostalgic root in another part of the world. Her relationship with the city gives her strength in the long run
As the book progresses we empathise with Aparna , as she moves through the different relationships and acquaintances and ultimately emerges more liberated and relaxed.
