‘WE and THEM’ is the source of all our problems. In and out groups create unhealthy competition, leading to aggression. On the national level to discrimination and exclusion in employment, housing, and opportunity. On the international level this leads to conflicts and war. Differences exist, but on a deeper level they are not meaningful. Survival is meaningful. We all live on this planet together, and must collectively care for it. So far, we are failing, threatening our survival. Young people are frustrated and angry at inheriting a planet that is moving toward destruction leaving much suffering in its wake. To survive we must adopt the attitude of being a member of one human and animal family. We are all brothers and sisters. Only through unity can we solve these pressing problems facing us today. Break down the walls of WE and THEM. Emaho!

SABI MAYA

At present we perceive samsara as something we have to reject and nirvana as something we have to attain. Now while this is correct according to relative truth, according to absolute truth the nature of the afflictive emotions and actions that we are supposed to reject is nothing other than emptiness. When we realize the dharmakaya, which is free from true existence, we will know that all perceptions are similar to a dream or an illusion and we will no longer crave these phenomena. As it is said, ‘While there is attachment, there is no view.’ And the absence of attachment is the supreme view." - Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

#####################################

All perceptions...." However, if I were to be ever so bold, I might say: "While there is attachment, there is view, and the absence of view is the supreme view, which is not really a view, nirvana." We cannot have no view without views, therefore nirvana without samsara is indeed impossible. But we must have views as we are dualistic creatures; but these views must not be really views, just borrowed, not owned. Everything, therefore, is real--but not really real simultaneously. If this is not our positionless position, there will be attachment. Attachment is the true test of awakening. It is the thread that sews together all of the dharma. If one does not fully understand emptiness--experience it, they will be prone to investing in the reification of their thoughts, leading to attachment and suffering

Isnt “experiencing” emptiness an attachment since emptiness is not a thing to be experienced? The moment we take emptiness as an experience we are attached to the “experience” of emptiness. The non experience of emptiness is the experience of emptiness.

Cold Homes & COVID-19

People living in 'non-decent' cold and damp homes could increase the COVID-19 risk for the most vulnerable people, a report from the Centre for Ageing Better and the King's Fund warned.

The Centre's Holly Holder commented: "Spending long periods of time in a cold, damp, and unsafe home is bad for people’s health and could increase the risk of serious consequences if someone were to contract COVID-19.

"The Government urgently needs to reach out to these at-risk groups so any immediate interventions can be made to make homes warmer, free of damp, and safer."
