Many of the things said in Upanishads should be taken metaphorically and not literally. Upanishads are full of eulogies and exaggeration, something that is natural to any poetry.

Instead of sticking to the past, we can take advantage of the immense wisdom that Vedanta and Buddhism collectively offers, take out the essence of both the traditions by distinguishing the facts from the myths, bridge it with science and create a more practical and scientific path to liberation.

So, what exactly are we doing here in the name of spiritual practice? We are working to just remove the obstacles. Once the obstacles and the hardwired wrong notion of separation is removed, what is left or what is already there shines without any veil. The fourfold qualifications actually give you an idea on what needs to be worked on and developed.
