The most remarkable thing about my mother is that for thirty years she served the family nothing but leftovers. The original meal has never been found."

It is possible for each individual to choose not to be a victim of their vasana to a great extent. All it takes is a certain awareness. With a little awareness, every human being can begin to transform habit into choice, compulsion into consciousness.
#####################
SADHANA A simple way to become aware of your vasana is to try to stay away for a length of time from that which you like, long for, love, or consider to be most precious. The intensity of the pangs you go through when you stay away tells you something about the nature and depth of your vasana. Now that you have identified your vasana, you can start working on transformation. If you think your entanglement is related to food, wait a few moments before you have a meal. If you are eagerly awaiting the arrival of a loved one, consciously wait a few moments longer before you meet them. Depending on how deeply entangled you think you are, wait consciously for a few more moments before you engage in that activity or interaction. You will see that your experience of food or love or life generally becomes that much more profound. Gradually, the two minutes of waiting for a meal could be extended for two hours or for an entire day. This deceptively simple exercise can mark the beginning of a tremendous inner shift

Well, first, I hope you can see the exquisite conundrum of your question. If non-duality is real, and there’s only One Thing, there is no “I” that needs to ‘surrender’ to That, and no ‘how-to’ actions this illusory “I” could take to become what it already Is.
Some may give approaches or instructions like, “You must give up everything,” or “you must breath deep and allow yourself to dissolve into nothingness.” Others may suggest you must cultivate a certain ‘attitude’ of surrendering your own will in favor of God’s will, or other ‘preparatory practices,’ (Sadhana, meditation, celibacy, asceticism, etc.)
The paradox is, every one of these approaches or instructions requires “you,” (something ‘separate’ from Non-dual Reality) to do something to ‘get back to Reality.’ which, ultimately, can only confirm & reinforce duality.
That’s why Ramana Maharshi constantly reminded all to simply let go of the illusion there is a ‘separate you,’ that needs to do anything - surrender, dissolve, prepare, etc. Or in short, “Be as you are.”
Most people will ask, “OK, but how do I do that?” There’s nothing simpler than being as you are, but for most this answer feels inadequate, because they don’t like how their illusory ‘dual’ life is, and were hoping surrendering into Non-duality would end their suffering in life. “Their” suffering. Duality again.
So you also need to examine where your question is coming from. The illusory ‘personal identity’ cannot ‘transform itself’ into non-duality…because there’s nothing there. A shadow can never leap off the ground and become ‘one’ with the object that is casting it, no matter how much it surrenders or prepares.
Which means your desire to surrender into non-duality must start with surrendering that desire, or any desire to ‘improve’ your condition or achieve some ‘state’ beyond suffering. You must be with What Is. You must “Be as you are.”

When this question was originally asked I had heard of Jung but haven’t read his work, and so before venturing to answer I did my homework, I read his biography and some of his work but of course not exhaustively. This is what I have learned.
Carl Jung’s major area of study was the COLLECTIVE UNCONSCIOUS. He was a deeply spiritual man who was often depreciated and dismissed as a “mystic” by his fellows in the psychology/psychiatric Academy and he often had pre-cognition of events that actually happened. He also delved deeply in Dream Analysis which was pioneered by his one time friend and mentor Freud with whom he later had a falling out.
Carl Jung was also a lover and researcher into Mythology which he and his colleagues understood as the content arising from the Collective Unconscious of humanity. He also regarded Astrology favourably as a tool for self-analysis. Mandalas was also an area of great interest - as was all oriental spirituality.
His work into the mind and consciousness can comfortably be mapped onto Hindu psychology and theory of consciousness, according to which, there are four levels:–
- Jāgrata – waking transactional consciousness of every day life in which the world is cognised as comprising objects and agents and their interaction.
- Svapna – dream consciousness which is the intermediary state between Waking Consciousness and the following state of:–
- Suṣupti – the Collective Unconscious which all humanity taps into and in which Universal Archetypes are contained.
- Turīya – trans-personal/ transcendent Consciousness which encompasses the entire Cosmos.
