CLIMATE CHANGE AFFECTS AUTUMN

Due to lower carbon uptake, the researchers predict that this extended growing season will shorten autumn senescence — the transition from summer through to fall and then winter — by 3-6 days by the end of the century.

We are taught that everything is impermanent. The job we are currently in is impermanent as one day it will finish. Our next better job is also impermanent and one day will finish. Our suffering and agitation after a bad day at work will inevitably not last forever and will cease - either when we go to sleep, or when we wake up the next day and something good happens, or also moment-by-moment. The happiness we get when our new job comes will also not last forever and will eventually turn to suffering. Actually we are taught that even our body and everything about our life is impermanent. So maybe after we solve one problem with our work we will die immediately. Or maybe even when we are half-way through fixing this problem we will die. Actually when we die, on our last day that we are alive, it will not be a situation where we think and know "OK, this is my last day". When death comes we will not be ready. So perhaps tonight will even be the last night that we both will be alive.

These are the very superficial meanings of what I have been taught about the meaning of "everything is impermanent" and what is meant by "time is precious".

We are taught in Buddhism that we all want happiness and don't want suffering. So it is practical to investigate: what are the causes of happiness to cultivate, and what are the causes of suffering to abandon. Putting our strong reliance on external causes of happiness (money, job, status, relationships, food) and following our delusions of ignorance and cherishing ourselves above others, may bring fleeting happiness, but will diminish and turn to suffering. This happens when we realise that all of these external things are impermanent. It is not a stable thing for us to rely on as a cause for our happiness. We are taught that there are stable and reliable causes of happiness. These are the cultivation of things such as having a kind heart, developing compassion, or developing wisdom. These are correct objects for us to aspire for.

"Time is precious" also means that we are so fortunate to have been exposed to and have an interest in even some wise teachings. Not everyone does. So we should do our best to strive for developing a kind heart as above.

When we begin to know this I think that even we can use any situation we are in to our advantage - both in short and long term. When we are taught that we can practice Dharma in everything we do I don't think it is just a flippant saying. We can really every moment use our body speech and mind for the long-term benefit of ourselves and all others by developing our kind heart and wisdom.

As an example: if we are in a situation that we don't want to be in, or don't like, we have the rare opportunity to truly practice patience. Of course we can still undertake actions and direct our life path in different ways that will help us. But there is a wise teaching that His Holiness Dalai Lama quotes from Shantideva which is:

“If a problem is fixable, if a situation is such that you can do something about it, then there is no need to worry. If it's not fixable, then there is no help in worrying. There is no benefit in worrying whatsoever.”

I have a lot to say about not wanting to make any offence to you but will keep it brief, because I hope this helps your situation, and only because some of those things I mentioned have helped me before. And if it's not helpful hopefully someone can answer your question, and we can learn together because I need to remind myself to bring to mind these things more often than I currently do. All the best! :)

We are living, breathing, multidimensional kaleidoscopes.

We are swirling living systems within living systems.

We are one with the vast larger conscious system rotating as cyclical, rhythmic inbreaths and outbreaths into and out of manifestation, as the multiverse from the singularity.

The cosmic exhale for our little tiny corner of the multiverse in particular, was most recently 13.8 billion years ago.

Universes within the multiverse,

Star systems within the universe, planets in their orbit around suns.

Systems within systems.

The Earth body, …..the continents, …..the construct of nation states, societies and cultures.

Human bodies as vehicles for the evolution of consciousness.

Organ systems, ….organs….., cells, organelles within cells.

We are consciousness.

We are fundamentally, awareness, the constant background of all that we experience.

As awareness we are the still-point consciousness that bears witness to that which changes.

We are the perpetual presence that witnesses the movement, transforming, transmuting, becoming.

We are multidimensional beings.

Even as we are the watcher, the observer, the witness in still point consciousness at the core of being, we are also projections in the matter universe  —  data streams of experience. As such we are ever changing, ….never the same from moment to moment, nanosecond to nanosecond.

We are process.

Our quantum selves are an undulating ripple of waves that stream forth as our own unique frequencies, our individuated units of consciousness …. infused into multiple dimensions from the undifferentiated wholeness...
