ROTD RATHER OLD THAN DD X 1851 POST CHOLERA INTL SANITARY CONVNTION, PROTO=WHO X SSPA VEDANTASARA

Hours and days and months and years go by; the past returns no more, and what is to be we cannot know; but whatever the time gives us in which we live, we should therefore be content."

-- Cicero, “On Old Age”

I was having breakfast in a cafeteria when a Buddhist monk joined me.

The food wasn’t great, so we joked about the soupy oatmeal and burned toast.

Then he turned to me in seriousness and said:

When you stop laughing, that’s when the trouble begins.

I love his advice and he’s right:

A troubled mind causes trouble, not what the mind thinks it’s troubled about.

If a situation is serious and doesn’t seem to have a lighter side, you can at least stay calm and work the problem.

A negative mind, on the other hand, will get you in trouble every time.

The third eye does not open suddenly. It can not open suddenly. You need to be careful and alert about where you are reading and if that information is coming from an authentic source.

Coming to the question and the way you phrased it, I want to point out the term “wrong feeling” (mistake something else as that) - the opening of the third eye is exactly the opposite of it.

Third eye chakra opening causes individuality to merge into cosmic oneness. The awareness expands to the realization that nothing is separate, that we are truly all one. Once this realization has happened there is no way you can mistake a feeling for something else.

The third eye allows us to have a clear perception of our reality so we can fully understand our purpose in life.

Your third eye opens with certain spiritual practices like kundalini yoga, kriya yoga to mention a few, or if you go through an extreme trauma or pain which will lead you to spontaneous awakening. There has to be a cause - so that as an effect the third eye opens. This cause prepares you to deal with such a powerful channel opening. There is NO sudden opening of the third eye!

What a great question. There are several, but I think one of the most significant changes is the freedom from the perception of need— that we need something external, or need life to be different than it is. As Kundalini frees us, we come in contact with a very deep part of ourselves, a place beyond the tensions and distractions of daily life. From that place of surrender we realize we are perfect and complete, like when we were a child playing in the sand. We don’t need anything to be happy. Maybe we need some food and sleep. But when you’re happy, if you go a night without sleep, or don’t eat for a day, it’s no problem. We don’t even need to breathe— a higher power does that for us 21000 times a day. This is real freedom, where we see that this idea we have been dealt all our lives that we need to prove ourselves or be successful to be fulfilled is really bullshit. People who actually manage to accumulate wealth or power almost universally realize that it doesn’t bring them joy or contentment, usually after they have spent their life pursuing it. Joy is our natural state, which is revealed when the veil of dualistic illusion is burned away by Kundalini.
