According to *Swami Sarvapriyananda*, the term **Jada** in Sanskrit and many Indian languages literally means **insentient** (0:56-1:03).
In common usage, it is often understood as **non-living**, **inert**, or **non-moving** (1:03-1:27). However, in the context of *Advaita Vedanta*, the term is used analytically to distinguish between **consciousness** and **objects** (1:50-2:02). From this philosophical perspective, anything that is experienced as an **object**—including thoughts, memories, and ideas—is classified as **Jada** because it is observed by the pure consciousness of the self (2:12-2:52).
