Why do stoics act like their philosophy is the greatest thing ever? Is this a marketing ploy? It’s an ok if faulty and incomplete philosophy. For instance Nietzsche was famously and staunchly against stoicism: “Is our life really so painful and burdensome that it would be advantageous for us to trade it for a fossilised Stoic way of life? Things are not bad enough for us that they have to be bad for us in the Stoic style!”
