Shoganai
The attitudes and ideology behind the concept of kintsugi are characterized by a willingness and increased flexibility to accept the things that cannot be changed. The word for this is shoganai, which means “it cannot be helped.” Didn’t manage to get the last loaf from the bakery? Shoganai. Didn’t get the role you wanted in the play you auditioned for? Shoganai. It’s about acknowledging your disappointment, but also knowing that nothing else can be done. It sucks, and let’s just recognize that, before moving on.
