This utterance of Krishnamurthi on Meditation is worth noting — MEDITATION IS EMPTYING THE CONTENTS OF CONSCIOUSNESS
His technique of observation comes closest to, and is an extremely powerful aid to, Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi's unique technique of Self Enquiry.
The technique of observation or watchfulness as taught by J Krishnamurthi (and later by Osho) in today's language is Vipassana.
Observation takes the seeker very deep and brings him/her to the point where there's the experience of nothingness (a state which we all experience unconsciously in sleep, but during observation, it's consciously experienced).
Sri Ramana Maharshi gently points the seeker's attention to the one who is experiencing this nothingness. There must be someone to experience that nothingness and that someone… cannot be nothingness!
