Fiction. Cinema. Not reading

Qra

could be a number of things. My best friend doesn’t like to read because it takes her a long time to get through a book, no matter how interesting it is. Even if you read fast, a book can just get boring sometimes, whether from a lag in the content or just the fact that you don’t feel like using your imagination. The more vivid your imagination, the more fun reading is.

Maybe you just haven’t found the right books for you. I hated reading as a kid. Then I stumbled on a genre I liked with a decent amount of pages to not feel too overwhelming, but also not be too short. To this day, there are some books that I just can’t get into because of the effort it takes to understand them.

Reading takes effort—more effort than watching a movie does. So, if you aren’t willing to put in the effort or your attention span is just really short, reading can seem harder than it is for other people. Movies do a lot of your thinking for you and don’t usually require imagination—suspension of belief, sure, but it’s a visual medium so you just have to watch.

I don’t think finding it hard to read makes you impotent. A lot of the time it’s just honing in on your interests and what’s entertaining for you. Since reading can take a lot more time than a movie usually does, you could just be more willing to spend your time on something with a finite amount of attention required. Creativity spans from a lot of different things too; it’s not just limited to movies or books. You can be creative through art or writing or music as well. And just because you struggle with reading doesn’t mean you aren’t creative. You’re just creative in a different way.
