"Looking at it in this light we can see that there is nothing to fear in death. Nobody likes to wake up in the morning. Very few people wake up, jump out of bed and start whistling a happy tune. For me at least, waking up in the morning makes me thank G-d that we have the technology of snooze alarms. Suppose you’re having a great dream where you are lying on a sun drenched tropical beach with a daiquiri while slave girls feed you grapes...too far? Then you wake up and it’s “oh no, let me stay asleep I was just having the greatest dream”. This is how we deal with the end of life. No matter the suffering involved we love our lives. We feel like we are having a great dream so we do not look forward to waking up and watching the dream dissipate into thin air. But to extend the metaphor a bit more, yes, perhaps the first moments of waking up are hard, but after a short time we may smell coffee from downstairs, the sun shining outside and the birds singing. There is nothing terrible in waking up just as there is nothing terrible in dying.
