Esoteric means “inner teaching”, and this relates to two different doctrines. The doctrine of the Inner God, that is Mans innate Godhood (Christ Consciousness) as opposed to an outer God (Literal Jesus), and that this knowledge was only shared within a select group, an inner group of initiates. The Exoteric (outer teaching) is that which is taught to the masses. All systems where only a select group of initiates are taught while the masses are left in the dark (profane) are esoteric groups. Freemasons and scientology are probably the biggest such groups today.
Occultism means that which is hidden, and is both the study of the invisible world (Spirits, hidden influences), and the hidden system of thought (due to religious persecution of pagan practices as well as pagan philosophy (except those accepted by the Church). The word refers to any practice involving either the study of occult subject matters (magic, divination, astrology, spiritism/demonology), or pagan practices during christian domination (including some folk magic but also some less than savoury practices such as ritual sacrifice, blood magic etc).
Hermeticism (a subject) is studied by esoteric groups and they also practice occultism (magic). Much of this relies on altered states of consciousness, in classical Athens reached through the ingestion of Ergot mushroom infected wine,
People relying on altered states of consciousness to communicate directly with the Divine (read: inner world), are Mystics.
This entire package, hails from the hellenic mystery schools, where the Aristocrats of the Hellenic world were taught to experience the divine directly to reach Knowledge of their own Divine nature (Gnosis).

”Carry the peace you experience during your meditation all through the day, all through the week, all through your life. Even in the midst of a busy life you can retain the peace. Learn to do that and to realize your essential nature is peace, always.“
