Naked in the Zendo is a book about how to develop and engage undifferentiated or vast awareness in the midst of everyday life experiences. The zendo is the room in which you meditate. Even though we are fully clothed, how do we drop the ego’s protective covering and allow ourselves full exposure to awareness? You may wish to uncover innate wisdom and compassion through meditative practice, but there is always the danger of trying to look good or smart, to try to do a practice right that engages a protective layer of ego. Exposing the ego’s cover-up is the task of spiritual practice, and this book describes how the mind may engage awareness to encounter its ego-driven cover-ups whether in the zendo or in the midst of life experiences.
