Despite concerns over the environmental impact of industrial mining and the contribution that fossil fuels make to global warming, resource extraction continues to be a major source of revenue for both developing countries and wealthier nations alike. In fact, the amount of resources being pulled from the earth has tripled since 1970, though the global population has only doubled in that time

EGO DISSOLN #For most people god and you are seperate, are two, a subject and an object. That's why the word "god" is so misleading. That's why "god" is not a good word to use. But there are some people who use the word "god" as pointing to the Oneness, the totality of what we are, that giant porridge in the sky. I can't really think of a better word. Every word is wrong. You can't point to that what you are.

( KEEP GOING )
You keep going. That is the bodhisattva’s way. As long as it benefits even one being you have to, without any sense of discouragement, go on.

To end suffering—not only by relieving its symptoms but by eradicating its root cause—is precisely the aim of the Buddha's teaching. […] We must first realize that the true cause of suffering is not outside, but inside. […] That is why true spiritual practice consists of working on one's own mind.
The mind is very powerful. It can create happiness or suffering, heaven or hell. If, with the help of the Dharma, you manage to eliminate your inner poisons, nothing from outside will ever affect your happiness, but as long as those poisons remain in your mind, you will not find the happiness you seek anywhere in the world.

Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche, oral instruction given in Paro, Bhutan in 1987, translated by the author.
