///////////////////////A new analysis shows that even though antibiotics might be ineffective against a lingering cough, the timing of their prescription might be fooling people into thinking that the medication worked. This pattern might increase the frequency of these unnecessary prescriptions, a hazardous practice that can increase drug resistance across many bacteria strains. The findings were published online January 14 in Annals of Family Medicine.

//////////////////Helping patients understand this common coincidence—and the actual expected duration for their cough—could help reduce the amount of antibiotics needlessly prescribed for such ailments. Unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions can contribute to the growing trend of antibiotic resistance, which reduces the efficacy of these drugs in situations in which they really are needed.

/////////////////// called eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Although skeptics continue to question EMDR's usefulness, recent research supports the idea that the eye movements indeed help to reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

///////////////////During sleep we also experience rapid eye movements while mentally revisiting our experiences in our dreams. That may work better than any artificial therapy, both for the micro-traumas of the day and the serious ones.

///////////////////analogy with sleep patterns is precisely a key to understanding why EMDR has some effectiveness? Sleep is probably the most powerful therapy. In addition, shouldn't we be careful about forcing traumatic experiences into the background, sometimes only to resurface, instead of reasoning them out

/////////////////////Other reasons for the job-education mismatch include lack of recognition for foreign experience and credentials, costly accreditation and licensing requirements by professional associations, and poor source-country schooling quality. “As a result, many immigrants are left with no option other than survival jobs,” says Sharaf.

Gorman, Ph.D., said at a poster presentation at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

/////////////////////ecz=try the weakest possible cream that maintains good control of the patient's eczema. Use ointment rather than cream because ointment tends to have less preservative and a more emollient effect on dry skin.
Advise parents to follow the fingertip unit rule on how much topical steroid to use. One fingertip unit weighs about 0.5 g. It is roughly equivalent to the amount of cream or ointment that can be squeezed from a tube with a standard nozzle onto an adult index finger from the tip of the finger to the first crease

//////////////////////////////////////For a child aged 3-6 months the steroid should be applied as follows:
  • Entire face and neck: 1 fingertip unit
  • An entire arm and hand: 1 fingertip unit
  • An entire leg and foot: 1.5 fingertip units
  • The entire front of chest and abdomen: 1 fingertip unit
  • The entire back including buttocks: 1.5 fingertip units.

He deplores the paucity of grey-haired, wrinkled actors in ads for soft drinks, beer and cars. “Instead, pictures of old people are used to sell adult diapers, arthritis drugs and retirement plans.”

//////////////He acknowledges that older people today “enjoy on the average much longer lives, far better health, far more recreational opportunities and far less grief from deaths of their children than at any previous time in human history.” Moreover, living in a nursing home is surely preferable (isn’t it?) to being abandoned, pushed off a cliff or buried alive, the fate of the old and infirm among many tribal societies.

/////////////////BMW= CLONED KEYS PROBLEM

////////////////By some measures, it seems the living conditions for human beings today as we approach 7 billion, are better than they were at 4+ billion. That doesn’t mean huge problems aren’t coming though. It will be interesting to see how it works out.

////////////////////Seborrhoeic dermatitis in infants typically occurs within the first six months of life and resolves spontaneously by 8 months of age. Infants most commonly present with cradle cap, characterised by greasy, yellow, scaly patches over the scalp.
In some patients a thick, scaly layer may cover the whole scalp. Over time the scales may become flaky and rub off easily. Other areas may be involved, including eyebrows, paranasal areas, and flexural sites. Seborrhoeic dermatitis in infants may also cause nappy rash.
The condition is usually not itchy and in most situations the baby does not seem to be troubled by it. This is an important feature when differentiating seborrhoeic dermatitis from atopic dermatitis.
