BG 9.4 mayā tatam idaṁ sarvaṁ jagad avyaktamūrtinā matsthāni sarvabhūtāni na cāhaṁ teṣvavasthitaḥ

Bhagavad Gita (9.4). The full verse is:

मया ततमिदं सर्वं जगदव्यक्तमूर्तिना।
मत्स्थानि सर्वभूतानि न चाहं तेष्ववस्थितः॥

Transliteration:
mayā tatam idaṁ sarvaṁ jagad avyaktamūrtinā
matsthāni sarvabhūtāni na cāhaṁ teṣvavasthitaḥ

Meaning:
"I pervade this entire universe in My unmanifest form. All beings exist in Me, but I am not confined within them."

Interpretation:

  • Krishna (as the Divine Consciousness) states that He pervades everything in the universe in an unseen, formless manner.
  • All living beings exist within Him, yet He remains beyond them, unaffected by worldly existence.
  • This highlights the omnipresence of the Divine while maintaining its transcendence over creation.

This verse emphasizes the concept of divine immanence and transcendence, a core teaching in Vedantic philosophy.
