What is a "dark empath"?
A dark empath is a person who exhibits traits from the "dark triad" of personality—psychopathy, narcissism, and Machiavellianism—but also possesses a high degree of empathy.
This makes them particularly dangerous because they can use their understanding of others' feelings to manipulate them more effectively.
Unlike a classic psychopath, who lacks empathy and can be more obvious in their behavior, a dark empath can seem charming, sensitive, and genuinely caring, making it difficult to spot their malicious intent.
While they may have a lower level of "affective empathy" (feeling what others feel), they excel at "cognitive empathy" (understanding what others feel), which is the key to their manipulative abilities.
