Chatusloki Bhagavatam

 A

Got it 🙏

The Chatushloki Bhagavatam (चतुःश्लोकी भागवतम्) are four verses spoken by Lord Narayana to Brahmaji in the Bhagavata Purana (Canto 2, Chapter 9, verses 33–36).

Here they are in Sanskrit with English meaning:

1. Bhagavatam 2.9.33

Meaning:

Before creation, only I existed, and nothing else—neither the cause nor the effect. That which appears after creation is also Me, and whatever remains after dissolution is also Me alone.

2. Bhagavatam 2.9.34

Meaning:

What appears to have meaning, apart from Me, has no true existence. Know it as My illusory energy (Maya)—just like reflections and darkness, which seem real but are not independent of light.

3. Bhagavatam 2.9.35

Meaning:

Just as the great elements (earth, water, fire, air, space) enter into all beings—remaining both within and outside them—similarly, I exist in all beings, yet I am also beyond them.

4. Bhagavatam 2.9.36

Meaning:

Therefore, one who seeks the Absolute Truth should inquire into this: by seeing both the direct (presence) and indirect (absence) aspects, one should understand Me everywhere and always.

✨ These four verses are considered the seed essence of the entire Srimad Bhagavatam. All 12 Cantos are expansions of these four shlokas.

Would you like me to also share a simplified commentary/explanation (as given by teachers like Swami Tejomayananda or Srila Prabhupada) so it’s easier to connect the philosophy to daily life?
